Be The Light

Jesus called us to be the light of the world. Easier said than done, right? How should our lights be shining?

But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light. 1 Peter 2:9 NIV

This weekend was Commandment Weekend at church. The children and young adults were in charge of the program which was centered around … you guessed it: the Ten Commandments.

What really got me was how these young people put their all out there - even the ones who were typically shy and reserved. It just goes to show that when you allow God to use you he will use you in remarkable ways.

How good are we at keeping the commandments of God? Better yet, how good are we at being the light of the world?

Do you know why we were called to be the light?

It’s because we are expected to show the way to God. It is our responsibility – no our pleasure - to point to Jesus Christ as being the way through which we can be saved there is no other name through which we can be saved. There is no other way to God.

We are the light when we live our lives in accordance with the teachings of Jesus Christ.

We are the light when we staunchly support what the bible says.

We are the light when we live by the word of God.

We are the light when we show love even when everyone would understand it if we didn’t.

How is your light shining?
