My family and I are going through a transformation process. We're learning to become a Christian family.
My husband and I grew up in the church (now I have to admit he got a lot more of a spiritual foundation than I did). But, we both grew up thinking of ourselves as Christians.
Sad to say I got to that age when Christianity no longer fit my image and I wanted to do something "more fun". Oh how truly I had been deceived by the enemy! I left the church to "find myself" and only got more lost along the way.
My husband's "rebellion" was a little more subtle. He stopped going to church but he managed to hold on to Jesus because he was spending time in God's word. Psalms, Proverbs, Ecclesiastes. He knew them inside and out. Little pieces of Scripture were being tucked away in his heart for future use.
Somewhere along the way these two unlikely people became a couple. Fast-forward a few years and here we are: the three of us, struggling to be a Christian family. Actually that should be the four of us as we've invited God into our family circle.
Well for us, it means a lot less secular programs and fictional novels. We are giving up movies and video games and romance novel reading.
We're replacing them with Bible study and prayer and sermon watching. We're trying to be more intentional in how we treat others. We're learning to serve others. We're tucking away little passages of Scripture in our hearts.
Are we perfect models of Christianity? No.
Do we always behave in a manner that's pleasing to God? Nope.
Does that mean that we never get discouraged? Absolutely not!
But we are going through a transformation. Situation after situation. Day by day. Moment after moment. God is using the events in our lives to change us.
God is transforming us so that He can save us.
The apostle Paul said: "And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God. (Romans 12:2)"

Lord, I know You have the power to change any and every thing. Into Your hands I commit my family. Thank You for Your transforming grace. In Jesus' name. Amen.
