This is not how it was supposed to be. Okay, so I admit it – I have a pretty good idea of what I want to cover with this Write 31 Days series “All Nature Sings of the Glory of God” and I really did try to write some of the posts ahead of time but, life got in the way.
Today is day 1 and the plan was to use the days of creation to tell the story of God’s glory and power. Instead, I find myself in a mad dash away from my home as Matthew barrels towards Jamaica. This is not how it was supposed to happen! Yet at the same time, there is such power and majesty in a hurricane that one can’t help but think of the wrath of God. It also reminds us of just how much he is in control of everything.
See, here’s the thing: mankind likes to think that we are in total control. We get up every morning and because we get up every morning we think it’s because of our alarm clocks, if we even think about it at all.
We work, we play, we walk around and do as we choose not remembering sometimes to give all honor and glory to Jehovah who created all things and enables us to live and breathe and have our being.
'Do we realize that Jamaica is in the path of a very dangerous hurricane? Do we recognize that we are totally dependent on God? Do we realize that we owe our lives to him and that we should serve him and him only?
Do we recognize that this coming storm should send us to our knees seeking forgiveness for the sins of our nation and ourselves?
Do we realize that we need to be standing in the gap between Jehovah and Jamaica – just like Daniel did in Daniel 9:3-19?’
I’m praying for Jamaica and all the other countries in Hurricane Matthew’s path and I hope that you will too. Over the next month, we’ll explore nature together so that we always have an answer to those who would tell us that God doesn’t exist. “Of course he does!” we’ll reply. You only need to look at nature and you’ll see the truth.
This page will be the landing page for the All Nature Sings of the Glory of God series so all the links will be added here.
Hope to see you soon!
