“I have said these things to you, that in me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world.” John 16:33 ESV
Have you ever felt like giving up? Have you ever gotten to that place when you felt like folding your arms and saying, “Okay. That’s it. I’m done.” Maybe you’ve actually said those words and moved on to a new thing…
Now there are times when we need to stop doing whatever it is that we were doing. If something is destructive or contrary to God’s will, then by all means, please stop. But.
There are some things that God has called us to do that are so hard for us to do we wish he hadn’t called us for it. Maybe you’ve even said to him, “I know you’re God, but I think you made a mistake this time.” When it comes to that thing, you know what thing I’m talking about… don’t give up.
You have to keep trying.
A lot of times we think that as Christians our lives will be easy and everything will be fun, but God never promised us an easy life. Quite the contrary he promised us tribulation… you know what tribulation is? The really hard stuff that you’re going through right now.
Things are going to get a whole lot worse before they get better (if they even get better). When you get to that place, try Jesus.
Jesus is our way, our hope, our guide.
Without him we are nothing and can do nothing. When things feel overwhelming, try Jesus.
What do you need to try Jesus for today?
