Now that Thanksgiving is officially behind us, the next holiday on the calendar is Christmas. Each year millions, maybe even billions of dollars get thrown after this holiday.

With our words we claim that we’re celebrating the birth of Christ. We do this by eating lavish meals, hosting and attending galas, buying expensive (and inexpensive) toys for ourselves and our children.

5 Things You Already Know About Santa Claus

Santa Claus died when I was four. The story I was told is that his plane crashed while he was on his way to deliver gifts in the Caribbean.

Previously there would have been little tokens of pencils and notebooks given out in our schools at Christmas courtesy of ‘Santa Claus’. After that year, nothing.

One of the greatest draws of the Christmas holiday are the gifts. Children go into gift frenzy as they anticipate (and pester parents into giving) the biggest most expensive toy, gadget or whatever it is that the media is promoting as the next big thing.
