Write

Whatever your hand finds to do, do it with all your might, for in the realm of the dead, where you are going, there is neither working nor planning nor knowledge nor wisdom. Ecclesiastes 9:10 NIV

What happens when a writer doesn’t want to write?

It started as a dare – while in my second year of high school I had just finished reading a book one of my friends said to me, “How many books have you read? You should be able to write one by now.”

‘Good idea.’ I thought and so it began. Since that time I have either been writing, thinking about writing, wishing I were a writer or planning to write something. Ideas came at the oddest moments and were scribbled down on scraps of paper.

Until a few months ago…

A few months ago I found myself unable to write. I was completely burnt out – my words left and I was barely able to string two together to make a coherent sentence.

What happens to a writer who cannot write?

A very boring and dull existence.

Nothing feels quite right. It’s almost like being a zombie. Have you ever felt like that? Maybe you can’t relate to my story of not being able to write, but maybe there’s something else. Have you ever lost the desire to do something that you were completely passionate about?
